FASHION ILLUSTRATION AND THE MOVING IMAGE : spring term brief

So we received the first part to our new Spring brief starting today March 19th 2011.

Watch and analyse scenes from specific films, via storyboard construction and “pitch”.

•      Research specific director/brand towards evolution of a fashion spot that combines both their styles.

•      Research location, production, styling, film genre, casting, editing, camera work and graphic design.

•      Film tests and storyboards. Film and edit final film. Create soundtrack.

•        Render finished film to DVD and post on YouTube.

• Blog.

Evidence for Assessment

• A moving image DVD

• YouTube upload of final film(s)

• A portfolio/sketchbooks of supportive research and development work

• A regularly updated online Blog detailing your research, development and progress during the course of the unit.

Goth fashion is not just for Manson and the emo kids anymore. We’ve seen it in the new men’s couture collection by Gareth Pugh, and now Numero magazine shows us how women can flaunt goth couture in its 99th issue.
The editorial “Magie Noire” stars top model Jessica Stam with masterful photography by Miguel Reveriego and styling by Capucine Safyurtlu.

Once a downtown Toronto, Canada girl, Jessie Craig is now an up-and-coming photographer in Paris, France to look out for. With ten separate photo collections available on her online photo diary, it’s hard to stop flicking through her photos.
This particular collection in the gallery above is entitled, “Purple Haze.” While Jimi Hendrix may have originally sang the iconic song, Jessie Craig takes “Purple Haze” and makes it her own with dark, gothic images featuring black lips and dark eyes. These images are nothing short of eerily exciting..

GOTHIC FARM PHOTOGRAPHY

Ximena Etchart’s ‘Morbid Innocence’ is a photo shoot that pits a model clad in all black in the middle of a farm. Whether she’s posed blindfolded against stacked bales of hay or hula-hooping in the middle of a field, this model certainly clashes with what you’d expect someone on a farm to look like.
We’ve seen a renewed interest in goth fashion recently. Fueled largely by the recession, the color black has made its way onto a number of designer runways, catapulting this signature subculture style into the mainstream.
